Ever
put your foot in your mouth and instantly
regretted it? Ever said something hurtful or
disrespectful to a loved one that you knew would
come back to you like a boomerang?! Ever
wanted to check your emotional baggage to the
moon and lose the claim ticket?!!!!!!!
Don't worry! It's common! Today fragmented
marriages, dysfunctional families, and
"emotional fix-it " drugs are fast
becoming the norm. And demands in the workplace
escalate in the lean economic times we find
ourselves in today. These factors add up to a
great deal of stress that can affect a person's
emotional well being. It is safe to say that
many people today are stressed out because they
just don't have the tools to cope. And therapy
is expensive. The end results are frazzled,
short-tempered people who routinely
"pop" when the last straw of the day
breaks!
Fortunately, positive behavior is learned
behavior. And many of us only get the chance to
learn it when someone like Lisa Miller
comes into our lives. Lisa Miller, author,
speaker, and radio show self-help expert, can help you have
healthy relationships. Even if you are schooled in psychology,
her book, The Alarm Clock of Your Life
is Ringing: Time to Wake Up to
Happiness and Enlightenment, will shed new light and
novel ways to avoid relationship combat.
Her methods, or tools, are unique. First, if you
express anger or frustration nonverbally,
whether you stomp your feet or growl when you're
upset, you can avoid engaging another person in
a negative exchange. Although it may seem a bit
awkward at first, this verbal expression is a
healthy outlet for your immediate feelings and
can save you from going out of control. Then you
can get through the rest of the discussion,
meeting, etc. without causing irreparable damage
to something important to you. Second, Miller
tells her listeners that once those feelings are
expressed (vs. repressed) then you can get to
those core thoughts causing havoc inside you.
From that point, you can work through these beliefs
that impair your growth. And Miller teaches us
the practical tools that you can do anytime,
anywhere, to manage stress, master your emotions and gain
control of your life.
Although a serious subject, Miller's methods can
be fun! And if you take Lisa Miller's advice to
heart, your friends, family and boss will wonder
what has happened to you! You will feel happy
and enlightened. Her easy-to-use tools will
become a way of life.
